Aldrich pianos are considered to be the lesser known type of pianos manufactured by Sherman Clay and other companies. This piano is perfect for homes, classrooms, and other smaller settings due to its compacted size.

Found by Leander Sherman in 1853 in San Francisco, Sherman, Clay & Co. is considered one of the oldest piano manufacturers still in existence. Sherman pianos are made with such high quality materials and are sought after by both professionals and beginners. After going out of business over 50 years ago, Sherman Clay pianos were purchased by Bern Schwartz.

Console pianos are a great option for beginner or intermediate players looking to upgrade from digital pianos or keyboards. The console is the most common size for a vertical piano, and equips “compact action” with shorter hammers than a larger upright piano. Due to the action’s placement over the keys, rather than under (as in a spinet piano), a console typically plays better than a spinet. The console piano is a few inches taller than a spinet, but shorter than a studio model.
